Think working in fashion is all glitter and glamour? Think again! It is much more about hard work, odd hours, bad pay, big egos and sometimes horrible bosses. But once in a blue moon a fashionable party comes along that makes us look like it is all glitz, spritz and sparkle.
The past couple of weeks gave such opportunities. First up was Costume awards. It is the place to see and be seen, and requires a good dose of glamour. Here I am dressed up in my favorite mini dress of the moment (from Zara’s 2014 fall collection). One could argue that a girl (well) over forty shouldn’t wear a dress as short as this (mind you, having my arms up like this i making it quite a bit shorter than it actually is), but since it is well covered at the top – although with a nice back décolleté – and Im wearing opaque tights, I think I can get away with it. Heavy gold earings and towering heels completed the look.
Next up was Vixen Blog Awards. It is also a glamorous night, so after having rested in my closet for a while, I thought it was time to bring out my vintage sequin top. Paired with a blazer of my own design and pants from Malene Birger I felt it balanced dressed up with some ease. A lot of girls use these events to bring out their white-tie dresses, but I personally feel that is a little over-the-top. So me, I added some spice with pink lipstick, heels and clutch from Tory Burch. Earings were a Christmas gift from my husband.
The place was crammed with people dressed to the nines, but the event was too long and most people seriously younger than me, so me and my girlfriend took off for some drinks instead. Whisky and a brown bar proved more fun in the end.
