One of the things that concerns me about fashion is how great the distance sometimes is between what is shown at the runway and what real women actually wear. Quite a few designers seem to deliberately make their outfits very hard to fit, both in terms of usability and femininity. I do love new ideas and bold choices, but I’m not sure that it has to be on the cost of flattering designs. Raf Simmons work for Dior is a good case in point. So are many Americans designers and not least Altuzarra. Below are pictures from his spring/summer 2015,16 and 17 collections. As you can see, they all celebrate the female form.
My outfit below is inspired by Altuzarra’s designs. His are feminine but with those designers touches that we all applaud: interesting color concept, great textiles and daring details like slits, bands ruffles and belts. My skirt is not new but I have reworked it and given it a deep slit in the side quite like Altuzarra. Top from H&M, wool coat vintage and shoes from Karen Millen
As we are all waiting for fall now, but experiencing summer, taking inspiration from summer collections felt natural. Enjoy the heat everyone!
