FASHION, fashionoverforty, PERSONAL STYLE / Sunday, September 4th, 2016

For a while now I’ve had a real gravitation towards eastern dress sense. I’m not alone. Fashion has adopted Chinese and Japanese traditional costumes a long time ago. To limit for instance kimonos to a fashion expression however, would be quite disrespsectful, but one can take inspiration, right? As you can for any cultural impulses of course.

Here I’m wearing a kimono-like robe, together with a dress with (almost) matching colours. I’m such a fan of pattern mixing! It takes an oufit beyond the obvious and makes it personal.

Fashion is having a love affair with wide-on-wide silhuettes at the moment, but as much as I like that on others it simply doesn’t work for me. I’m a bit busty so wearing only wide items simply just makes me that: wide. The narrow dress balances the proportions of my silhuett and I feel comfortable.

The robe has pearl embroideries and is a lot on its own. That means it can be dressed up or down, worn with jeans of with an even more dressed up style for evening. This time I choose dangly earrings to compliment the pearls. Another time I’ll wear noone at all.
