Do you know what colours you fit? If you’re not sure, please feel free to book an appointment with me, because here there is a lot to gain from a little insight. I use the colour system of Carol Jackson and her book “Color me beautiful, from the happy 80s, myself. Her pictures are outdated, but the system isn’t. She divides people into four seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter. I define myself as someone between spring and fall, and use almost exclusively colours from these scales. That means that my relationship with colours is very conscious
That means that I avoid buying colours I don’t fit entirely, but furthermore – and more importantly – it means that my whole wardrobe is easy to mix and match. The outfit I’m wearing here is composed of items that were bought on vastly different times and places, but still they have almost the exact same shade of green.
It was really wonderful to be able to dress in all this green and still not freeze today. Fiiiinally a day with a bit of spring in its step!
Coincidence would have it that one of my friends on Instagram postet about the same hue, exactly today. That makes the professional designer in me proud. Last summer, after having purchased the suit from which the jacket of this outfit belongs, I wrote a blogpost about the rise of this colour http://www.fineforforty.no/en/on-sale/ Turns out I was right!
Last but not least. Even though I go in depth about green here – you thinking that is a ghastly colour – I hope you understand that green is not the point here, but rather that you seeks out your colours! In that way you can, with the same ease as me, put together outfits from what you have in your closet, without wondering if they fit together. Doesn’t that sound nice?
And btw: The name of my Instagram-collegue is Vanessa. In addition to being really stylish, she is hysterically funny. I recommend her profile Voguishandcalamity warmly.
