Vacation! What a wonderful idea! Time, rest, family, and sun (if you’re lucky). All that is already a lot to be grateful for, so being able to add the most wonderful surroundings to that equation is just amazing. I’m currently in a place of such beauty I’m finding myself wanting to take a snap of something at any given time of the day. It’s quite like being part of a movie – la vie en film – as the French would say.
Ver-sur-mer is not polished and luxurious in a Riviera-kind-of-way, but rugged, raw and breathtaking in a way that makes your mind settle and be still with gratitude and awe. Dressing in these surroundings calls for something laid back and in tune with nature. And so it is: an old shorts with stains here and there, the swimsuit from last year, a straw hat from the mansion and my husbands scarf. Here we’re not about fashion, just living breathing and being. I’m sure a lot of you agree with me, wherever you are trying to find your peace.
It doesn’t hurt that this place is a true seafood mecca either: Below you see a snap of our self picked sea-sheels and some of the lobsters we had for lunch. The shells will be a great dinner in a few days, when they are properly rinsed. And did I mention that my mother-in-law is an extraordinary cook? Well, she is! Things like this is what she – and her daughters – does all the time. My French family is amazing!
I think I’ll end with one pic from last night’s sunset. Beach, sea, sun, seafood, family, champagne. Hail to the summer!
