There is something very right about red for fall. Just as we start creeping back indoors, lighting our candles and once again savoring the full body of a red wine, a red outfit – or at the very least a red touch – is once again the go-to option. There are passing trends every new season, this time it’s green, last it was burgundy, but red is a stayer that always comes back. It’s not very surprising: what woman doesn’t look amazing in a red outfit?
Some would argue that they don’t look good in it. That is of course not true. Everyone can find their shade of red that would fit them, just like that they can find shades of any other color to flatter.
The suit I’m wearing here is in a demanding shade of cardinal red; but what an impact it makes! it is by the Norwegian brand Epilogue of which Eva Emanuelsen is the designer. She received the prestigious award “Nåløyet” last year: I’ll admit to not always agreeing with the jury’s decisions, but this time I could’t agree more. Her collections are sleek, elegant and flattering and holds a high International standard. This suit is no exception: I fell head over heals in love with it the moment I saw it!
My last thoughts about red? Try sticking to clean silhouettes with not too fussy detailing. The color is so demanding in itself that both details and accessorizing should be kept to a minimum. And if you are one of those who simply can’t see yourself in a red outfit, please try on a slick of red lipstick. Find your shade and see how your feminine – dare I say feline – self pops out!
Epilogue’s shop is in Hegdehaugsveien, Oslo. Cathrine there will give you the very best of service. www.epiloguebyeva.com/lookbook
